Shihan Martin O'Raghaillaigh Kenshin

It is very rare to find traditional martial arts in its truest and purest form but here in Cavan we have an instructor trained directly under world renowned grandmaster Shoto Tanemura

With more than 40 years training in martial arts, Martin O’Raghaillaigh has earned the coveted title of Shihan awarded on 2nd April 2024 by the legendary teacher Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura after successfully passing the Shihan test. As a personal student of the grandmaster for more than 30 years with countless journeys to Japan and training all over the world he has come to understand the old ways of the martial world and its inner meanings. There are many martial arts today that use the title ‘Shihan’ but none undergo the stringent tests and years of hard study to achieve it in its true and pure form. He has attained the ranks of 7th Dan in Ninpo Taijutsu and a 7th Dan in Kokusai Jujutsu as well as several traditional mastership titles within the Genbukan system

No grade is given easy and each lesson learned develops the person. The essence of Japanese martial arts defines the way of the warrior which is to seek peace and avoid conflict. To nurture this one must learn the way of strategy.

Shihan Martin O’Raghaillaigh runs a small dojo in Mullagh Co Cavan where he teaches one of the rarest and most unique martial arts in the world bringing a whole new meaning to Cavan martial arts.
