GENBUKAN NINPO DOJO

玄武館 忍宝 道場

先生 ジェラアド タリー

Sensei Gerard Tully

Ninpo Dojo translates as 'secret treasure' meaning treasure of perseverance / stealth, awarded to Sensei Gerard Tully on 26 August 2022 by Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura.

Sensei Tully has trained in Genbukan Ninpo for more than 20 years in which time he has travelled to Japan on several occasions to train in the Honbu dojo under legendary Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura as well as taikais (training seminars) in Japan and all over the world.

Sensei Tully runs a very successful martial arts dojo in Mullingar teaching adults and kids. Mullingar kids classes are fun and energetic focusing on good manners, discipline and awareness. A child that is aware of danger will often see danger before it happens. This is good children's self defence. In Mullingar martial arts are taught the old ways and this is the essence of Genbukan Ninpo. A child cannot fight an adult but can learn very useful methods of self defence starting with games that enhance escape and evasion. Only when there is no other option can a child fight back but this too must be realistic. In ancient times when a village was attacked the children knew how to hide and keep quiet and also importantly when to use their voices. This is applicable today although in a different setting. The strategies taught in ancient times still apply and are very effective.

Teens classes focus on high energy workout style warm ups and self defence techniques with emphasis always on good manners and discipline. More advanced techniques and an introduction to sword and staff are part of the teens martial arts classes in Mullingar. The old martial arts way is taught with a nurturing heart. Nature is strict but kind. It is easy to deal with a bully but it is just as important to teach kids in a way that they do not become a bully. Manners, discipline and respect is the way of Genbukan Ninpo.

'A disciplined mind will evade the sword'.
